Burning Man: DIY Energy Makers
Burning Man is filled with hackers, artists and makers of all walks. We thought we would search out the energy geeks and see how they were utilizing resources out in the middle of no where. The obvious, most abundant source of energy in Black Rock City is the Sun. Solar arrays ranged from the milk crate supported to the 10000 watt, “could (and did) power a small village” variety. It was great to see electric art cars charging off the sun! Waste Veggie Oil diesel conversions were also a favorite among burners for powering art cars and generators too. Thanks to Maestro, David and Nick for sharing their desert energy oases with us!

www.greenpowerscience.com This is a 64″ spot Fresnel Lens with a max temperature above 3000f. The concrete and rock shatters from the temperature shock. Slowly adding heat allows for melting. The rock was exposed for 60 seconds and the two pieces heated 8 ounces of water from 68f to about 130f within seconds.
Mega Man 10 Blind Run – Pt 5 – Solar Power Struggle
with a water weapon in hand… or at least a water shield…. the fire-themed boss seemed the most logical next step. It turns out I was right, and thankfully, Water Shield makes short work of Solar Man. I have a feeling that when I get to Perfect Runs, however, that Solar Man is going to be “that boss.” Only time will tell. Listen carefully for a sudden cameo from someone who decided my Blind Let’s Play was the perfect time to dial a wrong number! All part of the fun of recording and being unable to re-shoot.
